Littoral reflections

Hara Sklika

Driven by winter swimming and its benefits, an ongoing project titled “Littoral reflections” was created. With the peri-urban landscape, wetlands, portraits of winter swimmers and workers in the fields of the Schinias region as a vehicle, the photographs aim to convey the tranquility offered by the lonesome rides during the winter season and the beneficial contact with the cold sea water.

The stillness in the marshy landscape interacts with the softness captured in the portraits. Human creations stand emblematic. Abstract forms reflect physical and mental wounds. The ritual of self-portraiture is always an occasion for introspection. Placing the human figure in the center of the image and the direct gaze indicate the clear presence of both the model and the photographer, as if nothing else is happening around.

Photography as a medium mostly serves my passion for knowledge and communication. I’m grateful for the heartwarming moments and friendships I made during this project.
